FAD Records: an electronic pop record company from Altay, Xinjiang

In 2016, music producer Will Ren (Ren Shuxuan) founded FAD Records in Altay, Xinjiang. Over ten years, its work has grown from releasing music to production, arrangement, mixing and mastering, alongside live events, visual work and music creation tools.

According to information supplied by FAD, by September 2026 it had released more than 300 tracks, with songs and related works accumulating over 600 million plays across platforms. This figure covers songs and related works; it is not the standalone play count of any one single.

FAD operates both as a record company and as a music studio: collaborating with artists to release work while also taking part in the process of turning a song into a finished recording.

From production to release: God of Evil

Fehra's God of Evil offers an example of this approach. According to the project credits supplied by FAD, the team handled production, arrangement, executive production, mixing and mastering, as well as the exclusive licensed release.

These responsibilities cover several stages of making a recording. Arrangement shapes its sounds and structure, mixing balances the relationships between sounds, and mastering prepares the final delivery. On this project, FAD's role covered the production and release process.

God of Evil was included in the Apple Music editorial playlists 破格之声 and C-Pop 新歌. The archived playlist screenshots show both the song title and Fehra's artist credit.

Lullaby: one track in different video settings

Another representative release, Lullaby by KemimikE, has been used widely as video music. Examples include an NBA player entrance video, Huawei Mall footage related to the HarmonyOS spring communication event, and an ELLE China cover video featuring Li Xian.

These are records of the accounts choosing the track as background music. Through these different settings, viewers of sports, technology and fashion content encountered the same piece of music.

On September 9, 2026, the Douyin music page for Lullaby displayed “231,000 people used it.” In the 58 usage videos reviewed by FAD, readable engagement figures total approximately 2.43 million likes and 210,000 comments. These totals describe the reviewed sample, not all videos using the track.

Videos from Xinhua Television, Xinhua Daily Telegraph, Huanqiu, China Movie Report and Shandong TV also include examples of the track's use.

Lullaby was also included under the credit FAD-KemimikE on Douyin's first music album, 听见，看见. According to project information supplied by FAD, the album brought together nine groups of musicians, and a core FAD member was invited to serve as album supervisor.

Building a catalogue of singles and compilations

Alongside individual tracks, FAD releases compilations featuring different musicians. The 23-track FAD Records 2026SS is one of its recent compilation releases.

Other representative releases include 寻麓 by Jiaye, Feel My Nature by Sean Ven and 彗星, and Right 2 U by Bumpÿ. Singles and compilations together form FAD's developing catalogue.

Management and collaborating musicians

FAD Records was founded by Will Ren, whose practice includes music production, digital media art and photography. ADean serves as FAD Records A&R and release lead.

The collaboration and release records supplied by the company include DiESi, IPeiqi, Sean Ven and N2V. Their individual backgrounds include:

• DiESi: a beatmaker whose collaboration history includes Asen, 法老, KnowKnow and 万妮达.
• IPeiqi (Anjunadeep / Monstercat).
• Sean Ven: production project credits involving 檀健次, 朱正廷, 程潇 and NAME.
• N2V (2088 Records).

iMoon, Bumpÿ, Buckit, 左乙, Jiaye, STRlighT, LJY, Elecprok, XING KONG and Cyan have also collaborated with FAD or released work through it. These individual credentials introduce the musicians' backgrounds; specific working relationships are defined by the credits of each project.

Live events, photography and digital art

FAD's Night: Make You Rave took place at SD Livehouse in Guangzhou on November 9, 2019. The lineup comprised Will Ren, ALANMF and ALEXIX, with special guest F1y Syn and support guest Croem. Electronic Music Information reported on the event. FAD also participated in the reconstruction and live performance of Overwatch music for the 2018 Shanghai STN New Year game music concert.

CHANGING, a work co-created by FAD founder Will Ren, received first prizes in the spring edition of the second Hong Kong Digital Art Design Awards in 2023 and the Hubei division of the Milan Design Week exhibition of outstanding design works by Chinese university teachers and students in 2024.

The photographic work MOON BAY is displayed on Will Ren's page on the Vogue website. On October 26, 2023, Lomography published 社群采访 Will Ren｜享受按下快门的瞬间, an interview about his film photography and the connections between photography, cover artwork and electronic music.

Will Ren has also participated in research projects including 中国生态美学话语国际传播研究 and published the paper 美学视野下的电子音乐舞曲, with research interests in philosophy and aesthetics.

Developing tools for musicians

Music creation tools are another part of FAD's work. FAD Sample provides samples for musicians; FAD Synth is used to create synthesizer sounds; and FAD Melody focuses on MIDI creation.
